What this site collects
The short version: we do not ask you for anything, we set no advertising or tracking cookies, and the only measurement we run is an anonymous page-view count that stays switched off until you allow it.

Who we are
This site is run by Google Developer Group (GDG) Jinja, a volunteer community group in Jinja City, Uganda, for the DevFest Jinja 2026 conference. GDG Jinja is an independent community event organizer and is not legally part of Google LLC. Analytics — only if you accept
If you choose “Accept analytics” on the banner, we load Vercel Web Analytics. It counts page views so we can gauge how many people are planning to attend. It uses no cookies, sets no identifier on your device, and does not follow you to other sites. We see aggregate figures — which pages were viewed, roughly where visitors came from, and what kind of device they used. We cannot tell who you are from it.
If you choose “Essential only”, the script is never loaded and no measurement happens at all. Nothing on this site is withheld either way.
What is stored on your device

Both are local storage entries, not cookies, and neither is ever sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.
Requests to other companies
Loading this page makes requests to the services below. Anyone serving a file to your browser necessarily sees your IP address and browser type — that is how the web works — so we would rather list them than pretend otherwise.
- VercelHosts the site, so it serves every page and keeps short-lived operational logs. It also provides the optional analytics described above.
- Google FontsServes the Material Icons icon font used across the interface. Our main typeface, Gilmer, is served from this site instead.
- UnsplashServes the community photographs on the landing page.
- GDG community platformOnly when you follow a Register link. Registration, tickets and event emails are handled entirely there.
- AdvocuOnly when you follow the Submit Proposal link. Speaker proposals are submitted and reviewed there under its own privacy policy.
Registering for the event
We deliberately do not collect registrations here. Every “Register” button sends you to the official GDG community platform, and whatever you enter there is held by that platform under its own privacy policy — not by this website. The same applies to your ticket and any event emails you receive.
Speaker proposals work the same way: “Submit Proposal” opens our CfP portal on Advocu, and there is no proposal form on this site at all.
The social avatar generator is the one place you hand us a file, and it never leaves your device: the picture is composed on a canvas in your own browser and saved straight to your downloads. Nothing is uploaded, stored or seen by us.
Your choices
- Decline analytics and keep using the site normally — nothing is withheld.
- Change your mind whenever you like, from the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer or the button above.
- Clear your browser’s site data to remove both local storage entries.
- Browse without accepting: if you ignore the banner, nothing is stored and no analytics runs.
Your rights
Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, and the GDPR where it applies, give you rights to access, correct, delete and object to the use of your personal data. This website holds no personal records to hand over — there is no database and no account. If you registered for the event, those details sit with the GDG community platform, so requests about them should go there. For anything else, email gdgjinja@gmail.com.
Changes to this notice
If we add a tool that stores anything on your device or collects personal data — a different analytics product, embedded video, or a form that submits to us — we will update this page and ask for your consent again before it runs.
